Abstract
This study examines the concept and dimensions of political sectarianism and its impact on the stability of the nation-state, focusing on the Lebanese case through an analytical reading of the "Document of National Accord" (Taif Agreement 1989) to evaluate whether it consolidated or reduced political sectarianism. Utilizing a case study approach, qualitative content analysis, and a legal method, the research concludes that the agreement failed to keep pace with political and social developments and could not resolve institutional division. Instead, it reinforced sectarian power-sharing, keeping political sectarianism as a constant factor hindering long-term political stability.
