Abstract
This study addresses the importance of comprehensive and sustainable development for border areas in Libya (focusing particularly on the western border with Tunisia) amidst current political, economic, and security challenges. The research highlights how marginalizing border regions converts them into hubs for smuggling networks and illegal activities. To mitigate these security threats, the paper emphasizes transforming border regions from security liabilities into economic hubs through local investment, natural resource utilization, border trade, and free-zone development. Utilizing a descriptive-analytical approach, the study concludes with strategic recommendations aimed at fostering national security and equitable regional development.
