Abstract
This study examines the crime of genocide in the Kosovo region and the international efforts to combat it within the framework of international criminal law. The author explores the historical and geographical context of the region, tracing back to Slavic migrations, the Battle of Kosovo in 1389, and the rise of the Serbian national project with its demographic engineering policies. Furthermore, the paper highlights the physical and moral genocide faced by the Albanian population following the revocation of autonomy under the 1989 constitution. The study also analyzes the stance of international organizations and the UN Security Council, particularly Resolution 808 (1993), which established the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) to prosecute perpetrators of war crimes and genocide.
