Composition and Color as Musical Rhythm in Abstract Painting

This research examined the use of line, composition, and color as a musical rhythm in abstract painting, focusing particularly on the works of Paul Klee. The study aimed to emphasize the fundamentals of abstract artistic composition and the necessity of teaching the aesthetics of abstract art to fine arts students. Utilizing an aesthetic and visual analytical approach, the research analyzed selected models of Klee's paintings to demonstrate how visual rhythms are transformed into musical structures. The study concluded that abstract art is not random, but rather a formal and chromatic language expressing inner emotions and spiritual meanings beyond mere imitation of reality. It recommended a deeper study and academic implementation of abstract art philosophy for fine arts students.
