Physical Punishment and Its Impact on the Learning Process (An Empirical Study Inside Al-Nisaa Al-Khalidat School in Zliten)

This study aimed to examine and clarify the impacts of physical punishment on the learning process and to explore teachers' attitudes toward this practice. Utilizing a descriptive analytical method, the study sampled 100 female teachers at Al-Nisaa Al-Khalidat School in Zliten, using questionnaires and observation for data collection. The findings revealed a general inclination among teachers toward using physical punishment to maintain classroom order and focus, despite acknowledging its negative side effects such as fostering aggression, encouraging lying to avoid punishment, and creating a dislike for school. Additionally, no statistically significant differences were found in the preference for physical punishment based on educational qualification, years of experience, or marital status. The study recommended abandoning physical punishment in favor of positive reinforcement and rewards, or carefully utilizing psychological discipline only when necessary.
