Abstract
This study addresses integrated automated systems in libraries and information centers, focusing on the "Horizon" system as a case study. The paper reviews the historical development of library automation, the concepts, importance, and characteristics of integrated systems, necessary requirements, and methods for converting from manual to automated systems. Furthermore, it details the Horizon system's core concepts, functions, technologies, and subsystems—including acquisition, cataloging, serials control, circulation, and inventory—alongside performance and standardization criteria used for evaluation.
